What Adam is Reading 3-24-20

Happy Tuesday!

Back to pondering critical thinking, logical fallacies, and unintended consequences. As we adapt our policies, procedures, and workflows to a new reality, it is easy to make missteps or settle for the path of least resistance. Finding the right balance of execution speed and thoroughness of a solution is on my mind - nationally, locally, and within Phys Exp. Very few ideal answers, all require a lot of debate and a strong attempt to only make the small mistakes. And, with the looming notion that there are things happening that will shape our future with unknown consequences. Moving forward in the face of uncertainty is the trick.

(Hmmm...did all that mean anything or is it a series of fortune cookie non sequiturs?)

I have not made it through this blog fully, but this Infectious Disease specialist (who has worked on other viral epidemics) is worth the time...

I continue to be impressed with infographics from the Financial Times

Though sobering, their often updated comparative infection rate graph is now a go-to for me...

The roundup of good ideas being shared from MITSloan Management Review is on my list for [insert some unknown time point in the future here]. I am surprised (perhaps I shouldn't be) by the amount of data in these articles on various permutations of business practices.

Unintended consequence #3 of the day (and sadly demonstrating the need for being a good critical thinker)...

Bonus Round - Arts and Culture edition

When I retire I want to make cool science and tech-driven art. Like this:

From this artist

Maybe I could get an adult apprenticeship with Nigel Standford

(be sure to look at the related making-of videos)

I would like my retirement art be displayed at a museum like this:

Be Safe.
